This is a three-floor neoclassical building. The southern façade, which is overlooking the lake, is characterized by strict symmetry, specific for neo-styles. Along the whole length on the floor, there is a highlighted line of balconies and loggias, which in the upper zones end with stylish tympanums with vivid cornices. The tympanums are leaned on two pairs of columns, and they end with simple capitals. The central part is vertically separated with pilasters between the windows that end with strict capitals.

House of Grigor prlichev



The house had a courtyard on the south side, with a beautiful view of the lake. In the 1930s, the house was already ruined, and ten years later completely disappeared. By the initiative of the Council for education, science and culture of the City National Board, the citizens of Ohrid have been honouring the laureate Prlichev since 1952. On one of such celebrations, in 1997, an initiative was undertaken for the reestablishment of the poet's home, on an authentic location where the long-lost Prlicev's house was located. The cornerstone was placed in 1998 and two years later, in 2000, the gates of GrigorPrlicev's restored house were opened, making the house a memorial museum and a place with an ambience that ensures constant presence of Prlichev's spirit and an area open for the organization of cultural manifestations.

who is Grigor Stavrev Parlichev



Grigor Stavrev Parlichev (also spelled Prlichev, Parlitcheff or Prličev; Bulgarian language: Григор Ставрев Пърличев; Greek: Γρηγόριος Σταυρίδης, romanized: Grigorios Stavrides, Macedonian: Григор Прличев) was a Bulgarian writer and translator.


He was born January 18, 1830 in Ohrid, Ottoman Empire and died in the same town January 25, 1893.


In 1858 Parlichev started studying medicine in Athens but transferred to the Faculty of Linguistics in 1860. The same year he took part in the annual poetic competition in Athens winning first prize for his poem "O Armatolos" (Ο Αρματωλός, in Bulgarian "The Serdar"), written in Greek.
