House of robevci



The fellowship of Todor Petkov (1814 - 1899), was a very active in the Ohrid region. The craftsmen of the Debar School participated in the decoration of the wood-carved ceilings, drawers and other decorative elements in one half of this house, where Konstantin Robev lived.


These craftsmen were widely known. They were dealing with architecture and art, and their building experience was handed over from one to the other generation. Amongst them, there were numerous skilled painters, wood-carvers and masons.
The House of Robevci is revitalized and renovated with modern materials, according to the previously made documentation.

Functional house design



The rooms on the first and second floor are built in an unusually simple architectural type: big hall in length with two rooms on the sides. In such a representational treatment of the whole, most of the helping economic rooms are neglected, yet it was all replenished with the possibility of the owners who had servants on disposal.


In the historic center, the Muslim influence can be seen in the decoration of the interior of the houses, where one may notice inserted equipment, like closets and settee.

Staircase



A set of stairs, or a series of flights, including supports and framework. In general, the staircases represent are integral element of Ohrid’s residential architecture.


They do not strive to be in a single vertical row, they are playful, smaller, bigger, moving into different directions and becoming one with the whole. The space is lively, fluid and clear, useable with minimum efforts.
